John 13:12-20
Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet
12 When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? 13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. 16 Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. 18 I am not speaking of all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But the Scripture will be fulfilled, ‘He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.’ 19 I am telling you this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe that I am he. 20 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.”

In yesterday’s reading, Jesus washed the disciples’ feet.  Today, he asks them a serious question: “Do you understand what I have done to you?”  This question, I ask you... “Do you understand what Jesus has done to you?”  Think about that for a moment.  Jesus goes on to explain 13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. Jesus is teaching me and you that we are to serve one another.  Too often, Christians fall prey to sin and spend our time criticizing one another, instead of serving one another.  We are to have loving hearts, not destructive hearts.  We are about forgiveness.  If the King is willing to get down on his knees and wash your feet, we should be serving instead of destroying... That is, we should be washing feet instead of washing tongues with soap.  To often, we are proud of our lack of service instead of sharing a loving heart. Come, let us serve the Lord by loving one another.

I pray: O Lord, help me to show my faith with my hands, with my mouth, and with my heart.  Help me to not be destructive to the faith, but to confess MY sins and receive your forgiveness.  Help me to show my love for you through my actions on how I treat others.  Amen.

Look at the Words say they "fell away". The had it, but lost it. Just like the Bible says your name can be blotted out of the Book of Life.
