John 9:24–34 (ESV)

Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind (Part 4)
24 So for the second time they called the man who had been blind and said to him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.” 25 He answered, “Whether he is a sinner I do not know. One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.” 26 They said to him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?” 27 He answered them, “I have told you already, and you would not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become his disciples?” 28 And they reviled him, saying, “You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses. 29 We know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where he comes from.” 30 The man answered, “Why, this is an amazing thing! You do not know where he comes from, and yet he opened my eyes. 31 We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him. 32 Never since the world began has it been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a man born blind. 33 If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.” 34 They answered him, “You were born in utter sin, and would you teach us?” And they cast him out.

The Jews are running around in circles trying to figure out who is Jesus.  They have talked to the blind man, his parents, and now they go back to the blind man.  In an ironic statement, they ask the blind man to “Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.”  It’s funny that they say “Give glory to God.”   That is exactly what they are not doing.  They are so head strong that Jesus is God, that when they are seeking reality checks... they refuse to believe that Jesus could possibly be the Son of God.  They blind man is not questioning whether he [Jesus] is a sinner, but point straight to the fact that he was born blind and now can see.  The blind man is telling the truth, but they (the seeing eyes) can see the truth.  They pester the man again.  “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?” 27 He answered them, “I have told you already, and you would not listen. Why do you want to hear it again?  I’m sure the blind man wants to knock on their heads with his knuckles saying “Hello, Hello!  Anybody in there???”  He probably would want to add “You sure are not listening to what I’m saying, so quit asking if you are not willing to listen!  So what do the Jews do??? They kick him out of the sanctuary!  Wow!  That will teach him!  It will teach him how hard hearted they are and how they do not stand for the truth!

I pray: O Lord, help me to always seek the truth and to share the truth.  Lord, we know that later you will make a very power statement John 14:6–7 (ESV)
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”  Help me to teach and tell others that you are the Truth!  Let the Holy Spirit convict and convert their hearts.  Amen.
