Luke 22:1–2 (ESV)
The Plot to Kill Jesus
22 Now the Feast of
Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called the Passover. 2 And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to put him to death, for they feared the people.
This is a short section in the reading
for today, but now the religious leaders begin to plot to kill Jesus. The timing of his death coincides with Passover and this scripture mentions that Passover is near. Who is plotting to kill Jesus? The chief priests and the scribes.
Why? Because they feared the people. This agrees with Jesus prophecy. What was Jesus’ prophecy?
Luke 9:21–22 (ESV)
Jesus Foretells His
21 And he strictly charged and commanded them to tell this to no one, 22 saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed,
and on the third day be raised.”
I pray: O Lord, it is so easy to get angry over what is going on against Jesus, but it is all part of your plan. Jesus had to die as a substitute sacrifice
for the forgiveness of our sins. I give thanks that you had a master plan to save us, help me to refocus on your plan of salvation and to give thanks for the cross. Amen.
