Luke 10:13–16 (ESV)
Woe to Unrepentant Cities
13 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14 But it will be more bearable in the judgment for Tyre and
Sidon than for you. 15 And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades.
16 “The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one
who rejects me rejects him who sent me.”
The Seventy-two were sent out in yesterday’s reading, and they were going out kind of like John the Baptist to announce Jesus and the Good News to the
villages and cities that Jesus would be traveling to on the way to Jerusalem. Jesus is giving a stern warning to those cities who do not repent, for if they are not repentant, they are also rejecting Jesus.
I
pray: O Lord, Help me to repent of my sins and to never reject you. You are the way, the truth, and the life. I’m sorry that I fall short and I want to do better. Help me in my daily walk. Amen.
