Revelation 22:6–9 (ESV)
Jesus Is Coming
6
And he said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his servants what must soon take place.”
7 “And
behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”
8 I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship
at the feet of the angel who showed them to me, 9 but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”
The Lord speaks to John and says that He is coming soon and blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book. Jesus is Coming, but has he left us abandoned? The answer is no. He is always with us
and He comes to us in a very tangible and physical way. He comes to us in the Lord’s Supper. The Lord’s Supper (Communion) is more than a rememberance, recreation, or symbolic act... we don’t see it as any of these. Jesus’s
body and blood are in the Lord’s Supper. The “real presence” is in the bread and wine. Jesus says “take eat, this is my body” and “take drink, this is my blood”. The wording is always consistent and
never do the words symbolic or represents appear, but the words “this IS my body” and this IS my blood.” When we go to receive communion, Jesus is coming to us in a very real way. So, until He returns in the Second Coming, He
comes to us in the Lord’s Supper.
Now John falls down to worship at the feet of the angel, but the angel stops him and says “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers
... Worship God!” The angel is making a strong statement that is tied to the First Commandment “You shall have no other God.” There has been a lot of angel worship over the last 20 years, a lot of it coming through the New Age
movement. We do not worship what God created, we worship the Creator! I pray, Lord protect me from idol worship, angel worship, worldliness worship, but help me to worship only you. Forgive me when I break away from worshiping
you and help me to refocus. Thank you for your forgiveness and eternal life. Amen.
